Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) has approved a US$ 120 million investment for the construction, expansion and modernization of four healthcare and hospital facilities under the Health Infrastructure Program in the Republic of Panamá.

Specifically, the project will involve the Panamá Norte New Hospital, Joaquín Pablo Franco Sayas Hospital, Cañazas New Hospital and Curundú Health Center, which will result in the incorporation or rehabilitation of a total of 77,172 square meters and the addition of 342 hospital beds.

In addition, the project will include spaces dedicated to teaching and medical residency to facilitate the training of at least 34 new physicians, as well as equipment to improve care in 11 medical specialties; aiming to reduce waiting lists and enable up to 7,250 surgeries per year.

Through this initiative, CABEI will contribute to strengthening Panama’s healthcare system by improving access to healthcare services and increasing their quality. The final goal is for this initiative to benefit more than 614 thousand people across different areas of the Central American country.
