The Asian Development Bank strengthens its digital infrastructure in Spain

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed an agreement with the Spanish Government to strengthen and expand its information technology operations in Valencia. This collaboration is part of more than four decades of relations between the two parties.

The expansion of its operations in Valencia consolidates the IT Delivery and Resiliency Centre (IDRC) as a pillar of the bank’s digital strategy. The centre will strengthen cybersecurity, operational resilience and the ADB’s ability to deliver faster, data-driven services to its member countries in Asia and the Pacific. From Valencia, the bank diversifies its operations outside Manila, reduces risks, accesses European talent and ensures the continuity of critical systems.

The project originated in 2020 as a pilot programme in conjunction with the United Nations International Computing Centre. Following positive results, the ADB decided to transform it into its own centre through a specific agreement with Spain.

The formal establishment of the bank in Valencia also acts as an accelerator for foreign direct investment in Spain, positioning the city as an attractive destination for multilateral organisations, companies and international funds seeking innovative, institutionally stable ecosystems with a high quality of life.
