Spain to host the IV International Conference on Financing for Development
The United Nations has selected Spain as the host country to hold the IV International Conference on Financing for Development in 2025. The meeting will provide the impulse for the mobilization of all policies and resources for development by the international community, with the aim of implementing policies and raising the necessary financial resources to achieve the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals at the global level.
Over the past decade the world has changed significantly, we have seen accelerated advances in digitization, a rapidly evolving global macroeconomic and financial landscape, and growing systemic risks, especially related to climate change, pandemics and conflict. All of these trends have affected financing for development resulting in critical investments to meet the 2030 Agenda remaining underfunded. This is why it has never been more urgent to hold an International Conference on Financing for Development, analyze progress, reflect on the challenges and redefine the agenda agreed at the last summit.
This will be the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development after Addis Ababa in 2015, Doha in 2008 and Monterrey in 2002. The choice of Spain as host is a unique opportunity to demonstrate the country’s leadership in consensus building, openness to dialogue and building links between multiple actors. As well as its commitment to the implementation of the Agenda.
