Business Ready Report 2024 (B-READY) – World Bank
The Business Ready 2024 (B-READY) report is a new tool created by the World Bank to assess the business and investment climate worldwide. It replaces and improves the previous Doing Business project, providing a more balanced and detailed analysis of the business environment. The main objective of B-READY is to support the development of the private sector, not only benefiting businesses, but also workers, consumers, startups, and the environment. In its 2024 edition, the report covers 50 economies around the world, with plans to expand to 180 economies by 2026.
Working methodology
The analytical framework of B-READY is based on three fundamental pillars:
- Regulatory framework: analyzes the rules and regulations that affect businesses.
- Public services: evaluates government infrastructure and services that support business activities.
- Operational efficiency: measures the ease with which businesses can comply with regulations and use public services.
The analysis is organized around ten key themes covering all stages of a company’s life cycle: market entry, company location, utility services, employment, financial services, international trade, taxation, dispute resolution, market competition, and corporate insolvency. In addition, the report introduces three cross-cutting themes: digital adoption, environmental sustainability, and gender.
Business-relevant insights
B-READY offers detailed and comparative data on business conditions in various economies, enabling companies to:
- Assess the ease of starting and operating a business in different countries.
- Analyze the regulatory environment and available public services.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in operational efficiency.
- Make informed decisions about investment and expansion into new markets, based on a granular analysis of indicators such as the time needed to register a company, obtain construction permits, or resolve trade disputes.
The report is useful both for identifying areas for government reform and for guiding private sector strategic decisions.
