CAF allocates USD 2,740 million for the sustainable development of Latin America and the Caribbean
The CLXXXII session of the CAF Board of Directors, held in Lima, culminated with the approval of 14 financial operations for a total of USD 2,740 million. This historic investment will benefit nine countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, promoting social inclusion, infrastructure, competitiveness and climate action, with the aim of advancing towards 15 Sustainable Development Goals.
Moreover, CAF continues its expansion in the Caribbean with the incorporation of Antigua and Barbuda, the fourth Caribbean country to join in 2024. Humanitarian aid was also granted to Barbados, Ecuador and Honduras, reflecting CAF’s commitment to the well-being of the citizens of the region.
Details of approved operations and investments by Country
- Partial financing of the regionalization program of the province of Neuquén.
- It will benefit 730,000 people with improvements in basic services and road connectivity.
- Credit for the “Mi Puente” program.
- Construction of 300 strategic bridges benefiting 170,000 people.
- Loan for Salvador, Bahia.
- It will benefit 900,000 people with mobility solutions, training and digital services.
- Loan for territorial development.
- Institutional strengthening, environmental governance and citizen participation.
- Two loans: one for the expansion of the railway network and another for green projects through Banco Santander Chile.
- USD 250 million for youth employment, gender equality and inclusion.
- USD 150 million for financing MSMEs led by women and energy efficiency projects.
- USD 465 million for modernization of aeronautical infrastructure and an underwater cable to improve digital infrastructure.
- First loan to support women’s empowerment and social inclusion policies.
- Improvement of 9 road corridors benefiting 2 million inhabitants in several regions.
