CABEI promotes sustainable sevelopment in the Dominican Republic towards 2025
The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) has reaffirmed its commitment to the economic and social progress of the Dominican Republic, projecting a series of key initiatives by 2025 that consolidate its position as a strategic partner of the country. Since 2020, the bank has invested more than US$2.7 billion in transformative projects focused on improving quality of life, strengthening infrastructure and promoting sustainability throughout the country.
Strategic projects for 2025
The roadmap to 2025 includes projects aimed at addressing critical needs and promoting long-term sustainable development. Key initiatives include:
- Expanding access to drinking water. An essential project is the transfer of the reservoir from the Hatillo Dam to Santo Domingo, with the aim of guaranteeing drinking water for millions of people in the capital.
- Improvements in transport and connectivity. The Santo Domingo Metropolitan Train and new roads such as the San Pedro-Miches road will be developed to optimise mobility and facilitate internal and external trade.
- Sustainable tourism development. CABEI supports the project in Cabo Rojo Pedernales, which seeks to position this region as a model of sustainable tourism in the Caribbean, strengthening the local and national economy.
To ensure the success of these initiatives, CABEI has worked closely with the government and the private sector, aligning its investments with national strategic objectives. In addition to providing financing, the bank brings technical expertise and specialised skills, turning each project into a catalyst for positive and sustainable long-term impact.
With this perspective, CABEI reinforces its commitment to the region’s progress, promoting economic integration and sustainable development in the Caribbean and Central America.
